A Brief Moment of History
Sebastopol Plantation is located in historic St. Bernard Parish on La. Highway 46, approximately 15 miles down river from Orleans Parish line.
The one-story wood frame Creole plantation house was built in the 1830's by Don Pedro Marin for production of sugar cane. The home is constructed in a cabinette style, with the original wrap-around columned mantels typical of the period of its construction. It sits on approximately 30 acres of land. This private residence is available for visitation by groups and by appointment. Afternoon Tea-Tour groups are offered on a regular basis, and scheduling of private gatherings is welcomed. Historic St. Bernard offers numerous points of interest to be enjoyed along with a visit to Sebastopol Plantation...including the nearby Ducros Home and Museum celebrating the unique culture of the Islenos people who helped found this area. For further information, contact Sebastopol Plantation or Saint Bernard Department of Tourism. |
